Soundgarden and The Stooges join Hard Rock Calling line-up
Date Posted: 30/03/12
American grunge forefathers Soundgarden and seminal punk heroes The Stooges have been added to London's Hard Rock Calling festival this summer.
Fans of these classic artists should book short breaks to London for Friday, July 13th to see the two acts on the first day of the festival.
Seattle-based Soundgarden, who take the headline slot, recently reformed after a 14-year hiatus with a new album set for release later this year.
They are most famous for their 1994 album Superunknown, which featured the Grammy Award singles Spoonman and Black Hole Sun.
The Stooges, who are fronted by the resilient 64-year-old Iggy Pop, laid the groundwork for the punk revolution in the late 1960s, before breaking up for 30 years in 1974.
After reforming in 2003, Iggy has shown that despite pushing retirement age he still has what it takes to be one of the most entertaining front men in the world of rock.
Multi-million selling Australian rock band Cold Chisel have also been confirmed to play the festival in Hyde Park.
