Soap Sculptures Displayed at YSP
Date Posted: 23/09/13
Korean creator Meekyoung Shin has brought a rather unusual art attraction to several locations in the UK.
Shin's Toilet Project displays sculptures in bathrooms at places like the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Until October this year these statuettes will be at the Park as well as 15 other museums and galleries.
But the most usual part of the whole project is that they have been made out of soap.
People using the attractions' bathrooms can wash their hands with them, slowly eroding them in much the same way as statues made from harder materials can be eroded over time.
Interestingly, these Toilet Project items are set to hit London in November, for display at the Korean Cultural Centre. Here, visitors are set to get the chance to see how they look after three months of use.
An exciting venue near Wakefield in West Yorkshire, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park is a splendid option for anyone who is enjoying short breaks in the county.
