Shameless star Maxine Peake to appear in world premiere of Loyalty
Date Posted: 18/05/11
Actress Maxine Peake has been named in the cast for Sarah Helm's Loyalty, which is set to make its world premiere when it opens for a month-long run later this summer.
The production will kick off at Hampstead theatre in front of those booking London theatre breaks from Thursday July 14th, booking until Saturday August 13th.
It plays out the story of a fictionalised memoir, written by Helm, who is the wife of Tony Blair's then chief of staff Jonathan Powell, looking at how she shared her husband with the prime minister during key moments of his leadership.
Peake has previously made her name on the small screen, starring in Shameless, Dinnerladies and Criminal Justice, while she also played the role of Myra Hindley in See No Evil: The Moors Murders.
Recently, Hampstead theatre announced that Ecstasy is transferring to the West End for 50 performances after being a "box office smash-hit" at its current home.
