Seven reasons to visit Barcelona in 2015
Date Posted: 31/12/14
If there's one reason to visit Barcelona in 2015, it is its exciting calendar of events. The citizens of the Catalan capital are a party-loving bunch and there's always something going on no matter what time of the year you travel. If you're thinking of booking a holiday there, try to time it with one of these fantastic events.
080 Barcelona Fashion
Catalan fashionistas of all backgrounds gather for this extravagant event, which this year is taking place between February 2nd and the 6th. Find out exactly what you should be wearing next autumn and winter. Catwalk shows are supplemented by pop-up shops and plenty of opportunities to grab 2015's must-have designs. As a capital, Barcelona itself is immensely stylish and has a reputation for good design - don't miss out.
Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí echoed and challenged each other in their works throughout both of their careers. And where better for an examination of how they bounced off each other than the Museu Picasso? Located in Barcelona's stylish El Born district, the venue will be holding this exclusive exhibition from March 19th until June 28th. Art fanatics, don't miss out!
Festa de Sant Jordi
On April 23rd, the streets of the Catalan capital are populated with stalls selling books and flowers. This is Festa de Sant Jordi, the second Valentine's Day in the calendar, and it's an enormously fun and highly romantic affair. It's the perfect occasion for couples hoping to travel to Barcelona - men present their sweethearts with a rose, while women give their beaus a book.
Everyone who is anyone in the music world knows the legendary Sónar festival, which rocks up in the city towards the end of June every year. It's an extraordinary celebration of electronic music that completely takes over the city. The crowds are ridiculously friendly and, even if you come alone and without any Spanish skills, you'll leave having made new friends for life.
Les Nits D’Estiu
Love to add an air of exclusivity to an evening? Les Nits D’Estiu aims to do just that by setting special events among some of Barcelona's most incredible architecture. These start in the summer and continue as long as the evenings are relatively warm. The outdoor terraces of Gaudí creations Parc Guell and Casa Batllo are among its best-known venues.
