Samantha Womack takes up role in South Pacific

Samantha Womack has been named in the cast of the Lincoln Center production of South Pacific, which opens at the Barbican later this year.
The EastEnders actress, who has played Ronnie Mitchell since 2007, will take up the role of Nellie and stars alongside Tony Award-winning actor Paulo Szot (Emile).
Jason Howard will share the role of Emile with Szot, with Daniel Koek (Lt Joe Cable), Alex Ferns (Luther Bullis) and Loretta Ables Sayre (Bloody Mary) also in the musical.
It will open in front of those booking theatre breaks on Monday August 15th, running until Saturday October 1st before going on a nationwide tour.
The show is critically-acclaimed having starred on Broadway in the US for more than two years, picking up seven Tony Awards in the process.
Currently, the Barbican is enjoying its bite 11 dance, music and theatre season, which runs at the venue until July.
