Report: Tourism in Cardiff is booming
Date Posted: 27/10/10
Upwards of ten million people visited Cardiff in the first six months of 2010, proving that tourism in the Welsh capital is booming.
This number is up by three million on the same time last year, with a total of 14 million going to the city in total during 2009, with many staying in Cardiff hotels for the duration of their stay.
Councillor Nigel Howells, Cardiff's executive member for tourism, told WalesOnline.co.uk that the results were "fantastic news".
"They have been attracted by a fantastic sell, which is a combination of the St David’s shopping centre, the castle and opening of the interpretation centre, the Millennium Stadium, Swalec Stadium, Cardiff Bay and Bute Park. We do what we do very well," he added.
Some of the events taking place in Cardiff over the coming months, include Thriller Live at the New Theatre, Pixie Lott performing at St David's Hall and the Christmas Lights Switch On at City Hall.
