Ralph Fiennes takes role of Prospero in The Tempest
Date Posted: 28/03/11
Harry Potter wizard Ralph Fiennes is returning to the stage later this year to star in Trevor's Nunn's direction of The Tempest.
Well-known for playing Voldemort in the JK Rowling-inspired series of films, Fiennes will take up the role of Prospero at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from Saturday August 27th.
The Tempest gives fans of London theatre breaks the chance to see what is largely thought to be William Shakespeare's final play.
It tells the story of the exiled Duke of Milan (Prospero), who conjures up a storm in order to restore daughter Miranda to her rightful place.
Along with a distinguished film career, Fiennes has gained previous experience with the Royal Shakespeare Company and has appeared in the likes of The Talking Cure and Six Characters in Search of an Author.
Currently, the Theatre Royal Haymarket is showing Terence Rattigan's Flare Path, starring Sienna Miller and Sheridan Smith.
