Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe returns to Paris

The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, one of the biggest dates on the horse racing calendar, returns to the Longchamp Racecourse in Paris later this year.
Racing fans should book Paris hotels for Saturday, October 6th and Sunday, October 7th to attend the historic event, which has been held annually since 1920.
Some of the best jockeys and horses in the sport will be competing for glory at the event, aiming to follow in the footsteps of last year's winner Danedream, who won in front of 50,000 astonished spectators.
Winning in a record breaking time set by Peintre Celebre in 1997, the three-year-old German filly surprised audiences with its perfect race ridden by Andrasch Starke and trained by Peter Schiergen.
The Arc is the third richest race on the circuit, behind the Melbourne Cup and Japan Cup, with a prize purse of €4 million (£3.1 million) and €2,285,600 (£1.8 million) going to the winner.
