Potted Sherlock to take on West End
Date Posted: 28/10/14
Satire and parody fanatics will be appeased this Christmas with the opportunity to witness Potted Sherlock, an exciting retelling of the works by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that sees all incarnations of the great detective himself take to the stage.
Featuring plenty of puns, innuendos and wordplay, this hilarious show promises to encompass all four novels, 56 short stories and 200 plus films featuring Holmes and Watson, in the creator's most challenging script yet.
The pair in question - Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner - have experience in pulling off feats like this, however, having condensed the works of Harry Potter for their critically acclaimed show Potted Potter last year.
They have also had success converting Treasure Island and pantomimes in general into 80-minute parodies, with Potted Pirates and Potted Panto also receiving rave reviews on Broadway and the West End in recent years.
However, for the first time, the dynamic duo will be diving away from their previous successful formula and introducing a third performer onstage, Lizzie Wort, who will join them in their irrelevant quest to purvey humour and hilarity to the Christmas audiences of London.
Those eager to see how they manage to condense the collective works of Sherlock Holmes into a show lasting an hour and 20 minutes are invited to come along to the West End's Vaudeville Theatre from December 8th, with performances continuing until January 11th.
The show is suitable for families with young children, but is also guaranteed to cause plenty of laughs among the adults viewers as well, making it an ideal festive treat.
It is directed by Hanna Berrigan and the sets are beautifully designed by Simon Scullion and Louie Whitemore.
