The Phantom of the Opera tour hits Edinburgh
Date Posted: 26/07/12

Cameron Mackintosh's production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera is to open in Edinburgh for a month this autumn.
Fans should book theatre breaks to the Scottish capital between Wednesday, September 19th and Saturday, October 20th to see the show at the Edinburgh Playhouse.
Actor John Owen-Jones will be playing The Phantom until Saturday, September 29th, after which Earl Carpenter will take over until the end of the run. The role of Christine will be played by Katie Hall.
The Phantom of the Opera is one of the most celebrated and longest running shows in theatre history. In October 2010 the London production reached its 10,000th performance and has also been running on Broadway for longer than any other show, overtaking Cats in 2006.
It tells the story of a deformed man, known as The Phantom, who lives in the sewers beneath the Paris Opera House where he falls in love with chorus singer Christine.
After finishing in Edinburgh, the production moves to Milton Keynes, Cardiff and Southampton, with more dates of the tour set to be announced.
