Notting Hill Carnival returns to London this August
Date Posted: 31/07/12

Europe's biggest street festival the Notting Hill Carnival is returning to west London this August bank holiday.
If you are looking to soak up the sights and sounds of the two-day event, you should book London hotels for Sunday, August 26th and Monday, August 27th.
Music is at the heart of the Notting Hill Carnival and this year will see an array of international and local acts bringing their unique flavour to the festival.
There will be steel pan, calypso and soca bringing the sound of the Carribean to the west London borough, as well as static sound systems playing the best in reggae, R&B, funk, house and more.
Beyond the tunes, there will be hundreds of Carribean food stalls and parades of people in beautiful costumes and floats. Once all the fun is over during the day, you can head to the hottest Carnival after party at the O2 Academy in Islington.
What began in the mid-1960s as a celebration for the local West Indian community in the Notting Hill area, it has now become full-blown Carribean carnival with millions of visitors converging on the streets every year.
