West End stalwarts Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart will return to London's theatre scene with their production of the Harold Pinter play No Man's Land, as previously rumoured among the press.
Playful Productions confirmed what the Daily Mail reported earlier this month - that the show will transfer to the West End at some point, although dates have yet to be announced due to the busy schedules of both actors.
The announcement was made as part of the production company's celebrations for a successful fourth anniversary that has seen it put on Conor McPherson's The Weir at the Wyndham's Theatre and the West End transfer of the RSC's Wolf Hall and Bring Up The Bodies.
Matthew Byam Shaw, Nia Janis and Nick Salmon, directors of Playful Productions, teased other big names attached to future projects, saying: "We feel very lucky celebrating Playful’s 5th birthday in Covent Garden with our extraordinary team.
"In the coming year we will be working with a dazzling array of talent including Kristin Scott Thomas, Damian Lewis, Peter Morgan, Hilary Mantel, Stephen Daldry, David Hare and Helen Mirren – a wonderful way to mark this milestone."
No Man's Land, a show about two writers that explores the sense of being caught in limbo between life and death, was previously tackled by McKellen and Stewart on Broadway alongside their acclaimed incarnation of Waiting for Godot.
While the star-studded duo performed the latter of the plays in the West End, they have yet to bring No Man's Land to London's vibrant theatre scene. McKellen made headlines recently when he told the Daily Mail that plans to do so are in the works.
However, with various film projects and TV appearances between them, he added it may well be 2016 before they are reunited onstage again.
