Museums at Night to Take Place Next Month
Date Posted: 19/04/13
One of the most exciting events in the cultural calendar is nearly upon us, with the annual Museums at Night set to go ahead between May 16th and 18th, coinciding with the Europe-wide event La Nuit des Musees.
Hundreds of museums around the UK will be staying open through the night, with a host of one-off displays, performances and talks taking place.
Visitors to Manchester hotels will be particularly interested to hear that the city's John Rylands Museum is to host a Doctor Who-themed sleepover, which is sure to be an enthralling night of fun and entertainment for all fans of science fiction.
Meanwhile, those planning to visit London will have the chance to attend a talk with Turner Prize-winning artist Martin Creed at the Freud Museum, while Kensington Palace will also hold a prince and princess-themed sleepover.
Alan Davey, chief executive of Arts Council England, commented: "Every year, Museums at Night gets even more ambitious, and this year is no exception. What a brilliant line-up of events, with such a variety of things to do."
