The Mousetrap announces 60th birthday celebrations
Date Posted: 29/11/11
Next year The Mousetrap will celebrate its diamond jubilee year, and a host of plans have been announced to mark the anniversary.
The production first appeared in the West End on November 25th 1952 and has since been seen by more than ten million people.
A new tour will see the show go on a 60-venue, 60-week run, allowing those booking city breaks the chance to see it.
David Turner, artistic director of the production, told Official London Theatre: "People say, are you keeping it on to break records? The answer is, there are no records to break, they have all been broken. And when people stop coming to see it, it will close, it's as simple as that."
Next year, while the London production continues at St Martins theatre, an all new cast will take to the road for the tour.
Among the first venues announced are Glasgow's Theatre Royal from Monday September 17th, Cardiff's New theatre from Wednesday October 3rd and Manchester's Opera House from Monday October 22nd.
