Mayfest brings contemporary theatre to Bristol
Date Posted: 27/04/12
Bristol's unique and exciting annual festival of contemporary theatre is returning with a range of interesting, unusual and bold works from around the UK.
Theatre fans that like their shows a little more avant-garde should book Bristol hotels between Thursday, May 17th and Sunday, May 27th to catch the performances.
Highlights of the festival include Magna Mysteria, a mind-blowing magic and trickery show, and Motor Vehicle Sundown, an audio piece on humankind's fixation with cars.
However, the star of the show will no doubt be Made in Heaven, a dance theatre production with themes that centre around the dystopia of modern life. It follows a prairie girl's dreams of another life amid impressive music and dance.
Mayfest is organised by production company MAYK in collaboration with theatre firm Bristol Old Vic. Together they work with both theatre and non-theatre venues across the city to bring the festival to life.
Newspapers have given the event rave reviews in the past, and this year's iteration is unlikely to buck the trend.
