Matthew Bourne and New Adventures to celebrate 25th anniversary
Date Posted: 27/10/11
A year-long celebration is being launched to commemorate 25 years since Matthew Bourne and New Adventures staged its first production.
The company held its first performance in 1987 and will now entertain those booking theatre breaks with over 300 shows at 32 UK venues until December 2012.
As part of the celebration, London's Sadler's Wells will host the company for 20 weeks over four different productions.
Featuring in the capital, Nutcracker will run between Tuesday December 6th and Sunday January 22nd, with a triple bill of Spitfire, Town and Country and The Infernal Galop taking over between Monday May 21st and Saturday May 26th.
Play Without Words will take centre stage at Sadler's Wells between Thursday July 12th and Wednesday August 15th, with Sleeping Beauty finishing off the celebration in December next year, with full dates yet to be confirmed.
During the company's career it has picked up a host of positive reviews, including the Times' claim that "ballet haters should be prepared to have their prejudices blown away. This is real theatre worth travelling miles to see".
