Lyceum Sheffield Refurbishment Planned

Arts Council England is set to provide cash to help with the refurbishment of Sheffield's Lyceum Theatre - to the tune of £1 million. Refurbishment is set to take place from July to September this year, according to Sheffield Theatres.
The main areas covered by the work will be the comfort of audiences, the theatre's technical capacity and its environmental sustainability.
Additional ladies toilets and auditorium air conditioning being put in place are among the jobs planned.
The refurbishment is set to cost £1,933,000 overall. Sheffield City Council is giving £500,000 towards this and £433,000 is set to be gathered via fundraising, with Sheffield Theatres hoping that £100,000 will come from individual donations.
"We are thrilled to be awarded this money from the Arts Council, which alongside the funding from Sheffield City Council is a significant amount to help us refurbish the Lyceum Theatre," said Sheffield Theatres chief executive, Dan Bates.
He later added: "The challenge for us will be to raise the remaining £433,000, however I know how passionate the people of Sheffield are about this beautiful, historic building and that they will support us as best they can to achieve our target."
The Lyceum is one of several Sheffield locations where people planning short breaks in the city may want to check out theatrical productions.
One current production taking to the stage in Sheffield is Oliver!, which will be at the Crucible until January 25th.
