Light fantastic at the Hayward Gallery as new exhibition opens
Date Posted: 30/01/13
An exciting new exhibition awaits those who visit London over the coming months as the Hayward Gallery's 'Light Show' opens its doors to the public today (January 30th).
A collection of 25 eye-catching 'light sculptures', many of which are of considerable size, has gone on display at the gallery at London's South Bank.
It is thought to be the first major exhibition of light-based art to come to the UK and includes pieces ranging in date from the 1960s to the present day, some of which have not been seen in this country for decades.
Highlights include an installation by Olafur Eliasson - which has never before been displayed in the UK - featuring 27 fountains illuminated by strobe lights and a sculpture by Leo Villareal which is made up of 19,600 computer-controlled LEDs built into a tower.
Tickets are on sale now, priced between £7.50 and £11, with the exhibition running until April 28th.
