Let It Be for West End revival
Date Posted: 10/12/14
Hugely popular theatrical concert Let It Be is set for its third revival in the West End, much to the delight of Beatles fans across the country.
The tribute show, which features more than 40 hits by the Fab Four including When I’m 64, Twist And Shout, Hard Day’s Night and Strawberry Fields Forever, will make a return to the London theatre scene next year, from February 28th to September 27th.
More than a million people worldwide have seen the show since it first opened at the Prince of Wales Theatre in 2012, and productions in places including Germany, Austria, Italy, Russia, Monaco, Tokyo, Singapore and America were extremely successful.
Talking about Let It Be’s return, the show’s producer Jamie Hendry said: "Now in its third year, Let It Be continues to draw crowds and delight audiences around the world. Its return to the West End for its fourth season is only testament to the huge popularity of The Beatles."
The story of Let It Be charts the meteoric rise of the band, from their humble start in Liverpool's Cavern Club right to the height of Beatlemania and their later studio pieces.
Casting has yet to be announced, but it has been confirmed that the show will play at the Garrick Theatre near Leicester Square following the current run of the Kander and Ebb classic The Scottsboro Boys, which is due to end on February 21st.
The provocative piece, which follows the lives of nine black teenagers accused of rape in Alabama in 1931, is sharing the residence with the family classic Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain Part Two!, which plays until January 3rd.
When Let It Be's 2015 run ends, it will embark on a UK tour that will see it visit more than 30 cities including Liverpool, Bristol, Milton Keynes, Southampton and Edinburgh.
