Leeds prepares to welcome Christkindelmarkt
Date Posted: 29/10/10
One of the UK's biggest Christmas markets will ensure that Leeds gets into the festive spirit when it opens next month.
The Christkindelmarkt will be set up in Millennium Square and will provide thousands of people with entertainment between Friday November 12th and Sunday December 19th.
Those looking at city breaks in Yorkshire will be able to take in more than 40 wooden chalet stalls, selling traditional German produce, including hand-crafted toys, jewellery, Christmas cards and festive decorations.
Furthermore, speciality foods, such as bratwurst sausages, will be served up and will be the perfect accompaniment for the German beer tent.
Musical entertainment will be supplied until late at night, with the beer tent remaining open until 11pm each night.
Entry to the Christkindelmarkt is free, although dodgems and other children's rides and attractions may require a small payment.
The Leeds event is now in its ninth season, and is one of the most established and traditional Christmas markets in the UK, according to Leeds City Council.
