Date Posted: 10/05/13
Tourists interested in learning about the history of the British monarchy while also taking in some of the UK's most stunning scenery will surely want to head to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge near Telford this weekend, as a special one-off event draws to a close.
Running until Sunday (May 12th), the Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival consists of a series of guided walks through the area, during which visitors will get the chance to see some of the places visited by the royal family down the years.
The event has been launched to celebrate the anniversary of the Queen's coronation, and with so many different trails to choose from there's sure to be something for everyone.
Indeed, while some of the walks focus on local flora and fauna, others take in a large number of historical sites, and with a range of difficulty levels on offer there's really no excuse not to get involved.
The Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival is bound to make for a fascinating day out for anyone staying in Birmingham hotels this weekend, and is located just a short train ride from the so-called Second City.
