The La's John Power to Star as Lennon in new Liverpool Musical
Date Posted: 27/03/13
A new musical is to return to the stage in Liverpool later this year celebrating one of the city's most famous sons - John Lennon.
John Power, who is best known for being the bassist in 80s band The La's, will star as The Beatles legend in the musical 'Lennon', running at Liverpool's Royal Court from August 23rd to September 14th.
Written and directed by Bob Eaton, the show will be packed with some of The Beatles' and Lennon's best-loved songs, including All You Need Is Love, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, In My Life, Hard Day's Night and Imagine.
The musical is returning to The Royal Court following on from a successful run at the venue in 2010.
'Lennon' was first performed in the city at The Everyman in 1982, from where it went to off Broadway and then back to London's West End.
Meanwhile, for any fans of Lennon and The Beatles planning city breaks to Liverpool, the show is likely to make for an ideal night out.
