Krapp's Last Tape Planned for Sheffield
Date Posted: 31/01/14
Starting June 25th this year, Krapp's Last Tape, a one-man -play by Samuel Beckett, is set to open at the Crucible Studio, Sheffield.
Daniel Evans, the artistic director of Sheffield Theatres, gave word earlier this month that Richard Wilson (One Foot in the Grave, Merlin) would be appearing in this production, which will be performed until July 19th this year.
Wilson is Sheffield Theatre's associate director, and a production of Love Your Soldiers that he directed recently appeared in the city.
Polly Findlay is directing Krapp's Last Tape - her directing work has previously been seen in Sheffield in the 2012 production of A Taste of Honey at the Crucible.
Krapp's Last Tape focuses on the character of Krapp who, on the day he turns 69, plays a recording he made three decades before.
The play could be a great reason to consider short breaks in Sheffield, perhaps especially for fans of Beckett, one of the world's most respected playwrights whose other works include Waiting for Godot.
