Kara Tointon to star in Alan Ayckbourn's Absent Friends
Date Posted: 12/12/11
Kara Tointon, a former star of Eastenders and winner of Strictly Come Dancing, has been named in the cast of Alan Ayckbourn's Absent Friends, which opens at the Harold Pinter theatre in the new year.
The production runs between Thursday January 26th and Saturday April 14th, with Reece Shearsmith, Katherine Parkinson, Elizabeth Berrington, Steffan Rhodri and David Armand also appearing.
It is Tointon's first return to the West End since she entertained fans booking London theatre breaks in Pygmalion, where she starred opposite Rupert Everett.
Absent Friends is a comedy of manners which tells the story of a gathering which has been organised to cheer up heartbroken Colin. However, it descends into scenes of jealousy, infidelity and loathing.
Currently, the Harold Pinter theatre is showing Death and the Maiden, which runs until New Years Eve.
Directed by Jeremy Herrin, it stars Hollywood actress Thandie Newton alongside Tom Goodman-Hill and Anthony Calf.
