Joe Wright to direct A Season In The Congo at the Young Vic
Date Posted: 19/10/12

London-born film-producer Joe Wright is to direct A Season In The Congo at the Young Vic theatre next year.
Wright will turn his hand to theatre for the play, which tells the story of DR Congo's first independence leader, Patrice Lumumba who was assassinated in 1960.
Those who manage to secure tickets for the show as part of their short breaks in London will also be able to see well-known actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, who appeared in Love Actually and Children Of Men, do his thing.
Wright is perhaps most well-known for his Oscar-nominated adaptations of Atonement and Pride and Prejudice but he told the Guardian recently that he had always been keen to swap film sets for the stage.
He explained to the newspaper that he had wanted "for some time to work in theatre", adding that he had "decided to make a concerted effort this year" to do so.
It will be the play's UK premiere and makes up part of the Young Vic's 2013 season, running from Saturday, July 6th until Saturday, August 10th.
