Jeremy Deller in an Exhibition of English Magic
Date Posted: 31/03/14
From April 12th to September 21st, Jeremy Deller brings his English Magic exhibition to the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery as part of its UK tour.
Previously presented at the world’s most respected contemporary art event, the Venice Biennale, this is a great opportunity to discover more about the artist’s view of British culture.
With a wide range of materials on display and a large amount of issues covered, this is a exhibition which has something that everyone can relate to. Looking at the British people, history, icons, politics and folklore, Deller uses anything from film and historical materials to huge murals to convey his message.
The previous Turner Prize winner makes the exhibition even more relevant by using the museum’s own collection as an inspiration for his contemporary artworks. Examples are the Bristol Riots painting by William James Muller (1831) and a taxidermy item.
Take the time to immerse yourself in British culture by booking into a great Bristol hotel.
