There's no need to go abroad this summer because Holidays at Home are Great, says the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in its biggest ever domestic tourism campaign.
Britain provides endless holidaying opportunities. Those that love natural beauty can traverse the Malvern Hills, go to one of the dozens of heritage sites managed by the National Trust or witness the wildlife of the New Forest.
If you prefer short breaks within the cultural milieu of a city, why not spend a weekend in the uniquely historical city of York? Guests can visit York Minster - one of the largest gothic cathedrals in Europe - or discover a part of Britain's history in the Jorvik Viking Museum.
The £5 million campaign features the likes of Stephen Fry, Rupert Grint and Julie Walters letting viewers know the sorts of activities that people can get up to within the shores of the British Isles.
Culture secretary Jeremy Hunt said: "2012 is going to be a year like no other in our history, with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the Olympics."
