Gary Watson is set to join the cast of Jersey Boys the Musical in the West End, with the theatrical stalwart delighting audiences in the role of Nick Massi from March 10th.
The cast change marks the show's seventh birthday on London's theatre scene, having proved popular with audiences since it first arrived in 2008.
Watson has become a regular fixture of the West End, having performed in productions of Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre and Les Miserables at the Queens Theatre. Other credits include Fings Ain't Wot They Used T'Be at the Theatre Royal in Stratford East and Finding Neverland at the Curve in Leicester.
Jersey Boys tells the story of the Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons - Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi - who attained worldwide fame despite a blue-collar background, selling 175 million records worldwide before they were 30 years old.
Many of the hits can of course be heard during the show, including Sherry, Walk Like A Man, December 1963 (Oh What a Night), Big Girls Don't Cry, My Eyes Adored You, Let's Hang On (To What We've Got) and more.
The musical, which started life at the Prince Edward Theatre before closing in 2014 for just a few days to move to its current home at the Piccadilly Theatre, is currently taking bookings until October 25th.
Watson will be starring alongside Michael Watson (no relation) as Frankie Valli, Edd Post as Bob Gaudio and Jon Boydon as Tommy DeVito. Sandy Moffat will play Frankie Valli on certain predetermined performances.
Also joining the cast on 10 March will be Simon Adkins (the original Bob Crewe in London), Matthew Cutts, Stuart Dawes, Nicky Griffiths, Joseph Peters, Chris Stoddart and Helen Ternent.
Jersey Boys has been seen by more than 20 million people worldwide and was recently adapted for the big screen by director Clint Eastwood.
