VisitScotland has named Floors Castle in the Scottish Borders as a five-star visitor attraction, boosting the appeal of the historic property for anyone on a weekend break in the area.
Regional director of VisitScotland Paula McDonald described the castle as “an incredible visitor experience” and said that the award was well-deserved.
Floors Castle is owned by the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe and is the largest inhabited castle in Scotland. Visitors are able to go on a guided tour of the impressive rooms and see some fascinating exhibits, including a collection of restored tapestries from the 17th century.
As well as exploring the castle, you can wander in the stunning grounds of the Roxburghe estate, taking in the beautifully landscaped gardens, while families can head to the onsite adventure play area to give children the chance to burn off some energy.
There is also a high-quality restaurant at the castle, where the Duke and Duchess’s personal chef creates culinary delights for visitors.
