Fife is the Perfect Place for a Golfing Holiday
Date Posted: 25/04/13
Scotland has a long connection with the sport of golf, and is thought to be the place where the much loved game was first invented.
It therefore comes as little surprise that the country hosts some of the finest courses in the world, which is why tourism officials in Fife are now aiming to spread the word about the many world-class facilities on offer across the region.
Liam Barn, manager of Fife Golf Partnership, insists that "with 47 golf courses, including links and parkland, Fife offers something for every golfer".
Visitors to Glasgow and Edinburgh hotels with an interest in the sport can reach the region, which sits on Scotland's east coast, via trains or buses or by taking a short drive.
For those who don't fancy playing a round of 18, Fife also has many fantastic and historically-significant sites to explore, including the likes of St Andrews Castle, which was built in the 12th century and played a key role in Wars of Scottish Independence.
