Experience art in Birmingham
Date Posted: 30/04/14
Art fans should head to the Birmingham Museum this summer where there’ll be an exhibition featuring artwork from women over the last century.
To celebrate the reopening of the museum's Waterhall Gallery, the exhibition entitled For the Record is set to run until June 29th.
It will showcase pieces by contemporary female artists and explore the issues of tradition, recording and archiving, through the use of numerous different methods.
The works, which span from the early 20th century until today, are drawn from Birmingham Museum’s Modern and Contemporary Collection, as well as the Arts Council.
Examining the themes of identity and the woman, the display showcases different types of artwork from portraiture to sculpture, painting and even installation projects.
Artists featured include Emmy Bridgwater, Alice Channer and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, who was nominated for the Turner Prize.
Make a weekend break out of your visit to the exhibition and book yourself into a nearby Birmingham hotel.
