Eric Johnson announces six-date UK tour
Date Posted: 27/09/12
Legendary American guitarist Eric Johnson is to return to British shores for a run of six dates next year.
Fans of the 58-year-old should book London hotels for Wednesday, April 3rd to catch the first date of the tour at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire. He then goes on to play Harrogate, Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham, before finishing at Salisbury City Hall on Monday, April 8th.
Born and raised in one of America's musical heartlands, Austin, Texas, Eric Johnson grew up listening to the likes of Eric Clapton, Cream, Jerry Reed and Bob Dylan, while perfecting his guitar playing skills from the age of 11.
He rose to success in 1986 with the release of his major-label debut Tones and has since been perfecting his art, incorporating a variety of different playing styles, from blues and jazz to New Age and country.
Johnson is perhaps best known for his hit single Cliffs of Dover, for which he won a 1991 Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. It later reached a wider audience when it was included on the video game Guitar Hero 3 - Legends of Rock.
On the tour he will be playing plenty of material off his latest album Up Close, as well as drawing from his extensive back catalogue.
