The Elephant Man confirms London transfer

The Broadway production of The Elephant Man starring Bradley Cooper will indeed transfer to London's West End, it has been confirmed, as previously indicated by the lead actor himself.
Currently running at the Booth Theatre in New York, the show has been wowing the critics and audience members alike, with London producers very keen to bring the production to the UK.
The Haymarket Theatre will host the show from May 19th until August 8th. Based on the life of the real so-called Elephant Man Joseph Merrick, the play tells the story of the 19th-century British man who became the star of a travelling freak show circuit.
As previously speculated, the entirety of the Broadway cast will participate in the London production, with Cooper joined by Patricia Clarkson as Mrs Kendal, Alessandro Nivola as Dr Frederick Treves and Anthony Heald as Ross and Bishop How.
Scott Lowell will also tread the boards as Snork, Pinhead Manager and Lord John, Kathryn Meisle will appear as Miss Sandwich and Princess, while Henry Stram will continue playing Carr Gomm and the Conductor in a production that sees many of the main cast playing multiple roles.
"Never did we think we would have the privilege to perform this show on Broadway, let alone in London," commented Cooper on the news. "I’m honoured that Alessandro, Patricia, the entire company and I have the opportunity to continue to tell his story."
Despite sell-out audiences in New York, The Elephant Man has confirmed it will close its Broadway production earlier than anticipated to allow Cooper to attend the Oscars.
Written by Bernard Pomerance, the play first opened in July 2012 in Williamstown, Massachusetts, at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, and has since gone on to wow audiences across the US.
