Elbow's Guy Garvey has said the band's November and December dates will act as a "farewell party".
Many fans will have already booked city breaks to catch the Mercury Prize-winning band for the tour which starts in Nottingham at the Capital FM Arena on Monday, November 26th.
The group will then go on to play London's Wembley Arena, Birmingham's National Indoor Arena, Liverpool's Echo Arena, the Manchester Arena and the O2 Arena London.
Garvey said the band will take a brief break from touring, and added that they have "already done six songs for the next album", going on to explain that they would "come back to finish it next year".
The frontman added that he would be busy for much of 2013, writing music for a stage musical adaptation of King Kong alongside Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja.
He confirmed that "as soon as the tour ends I'm off to New York for six months" to work on the project.
