Edinburgh will offer a 'winter break to remember'
Date Posted: 22/12/10
Families looking for a winter break have been told that they will never forget their time spent in Scotland's capital city.
Jenni Steele, senior public relations manager UK and Ireland for VisitScotland, told those looking to book Edinburgh hotels that the combination of the city's festive lights across the old and new towns, which brings out the historic charm of the buildings, makes the place feel "really special".
"Edinburgh is really quite magical around Christmas and New Year. Add to that lots of fun and quirky events and you'll have a winter break to remember. Edinburgh is small enough to walk around on foot but large enough to explore different districts and find a variety of things to do," she added.
Ms Steele went on to say that the city "comes alive" at this time of year, and visitors can mix cultural attractions with a bit of shopping and classy restaurants.
One of the biggest upcoming events in Edinburgh is Hogmanay, which sees thousands of people bring in the New Year with a giant street party.
