Edinburgh Set for Jazz and Blues Festival
Date Posted: 03/07/14
Edinburgh is renowned for the quality and number of festivals that it hosts each year and this summer is no different, with the first major event on the city’s calendar coming up later this month.
The Jazz and Blues Festival will kick off on Friday July 18th and run until Sunday July 27th, with plenty going on at a selection of venues around the city.
Among the highlights are a concert by Van Morrison on Tuesday July 22nd, and a special show celebrating the music of Oscar Peterson. This performance on Friday July 25th will see the Commonwealth Jazz Orchestra playing a number of his incredible songs.
Although most of the events are ticketed, there are a couple of free things going on too. Mardi Gras, on Saturday July 19th in Grassmarket, promises to bring the spirit of New Orleans to Edinburgh, and on Sunday July 20th the Edinburgh Festival Carnival will be a riot of colour and sound.
If you’re keen to catch a few of the events taking place during the Jazz and Blues Festival, book a hotel in Edinburgh to allow you to make the most of the action and the atmosphere.
