Edinburgh Fringe Festival Programme Announced
Date Posted: 31/05/13
Fans of theatre, comedy, music and just about every other art form may want to think about booking city breaks in Edinburgh this summer, as the Scottish capital gears up for its annual Fringe Festival.
Taking place from August 2nd to 26th, the 2013 edition of the event is set to be bigger and better than ever, featuring 2,871 shows performed by 24,107 artists in 273 venues, which represents a 6.5 per cent increase on the number of shows at last year's festival.
As well as including several new venues, the event will also see an expansion in its cabaret and spoken word sections, with speakers such as George Galloway MP and Ben Fogle set to give talks at the Assembly Rooms, while award-winning dancer Ali McGregor and East End Cabaret will be strutting their stuff for the crowds.
In addition, The McEwan Hall - which is one of the city's largest venues - will be staging events again after a two-year absence from the festival, and anyone interested in attending is advised make their travel arrangements as early as possible as Edinburgh hotels tend to fill up very fast.
