Dublin Gearing up for Opera in the Open
Date Posted: 28/07/14
Next month will see the return of the popular Opera in the Open event in Dublin. From Thursday August 7th until Thursday August 28th, a variety of operatic performances will take place in the amphitheatre at the city council’s civic offices.
Every Thursday at 1pm for the entire month, a different show will be laid on to entertain audiences.
First up is Gluck’s Orphee et Euridice, followed by Mozart’s The Magic Flute, La Rondine by Puccini, and closing with Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini.
Eoin Cannon and Morgan Crowley will direct two operas each, with Cannon taking Orphee et Euridice and La Rondine, while Crowley is behind the others.
Best of all, these shows are completely free to attend, so you can add a dash of culture to your short break in Dublin without having to break the bank.
This is the 15th year that Opera in the Open has been hosted in Dublin, so make sure you don’t miss out on the stellar performances taking place throughout August if you’re planning a short break in the city.
