Mark Knopfler, the lead guitarist and vocalist in Dire Straits, is set to head off on a solo tour of the UK next May in support of his latest album Privateering.

Privateering is his eighth studio album as a solo artist but marks his first double album in his extensive 35-year recording career.
Spanning 20 tracks, it features a mixture of folk, blues, country and rock, drawing upon a wide variety of influences and showcasing Knopfler's exceptional musical talent.
He first made his name founding Dire Straits in 1977, leading them to worldwide success over two decades until they split up in 1997.
