Daring Engineers Carrying out Safety Checks Ahead of Park Opening

Engineers with a head for heights are carrying out inspections on some of Europe's tallest rollercoasters ahead of the opening of Thorpe Park for the summer season.
The plucky engineers were pictured swinging from safety harnesses beneath the 205ft-high arch featured during the Stealth ride, which launches riders from 0-80mph in under two seconds.
They also carried out vital safety checks on the latest attraction, The Swarm, which features an inverted 127ft drop and submits passengers to G-forces of up to +4.5. It is the UK's first winged coaster, which suspends riders on each side of the track.
Commenting on the ride ahead of its opening last year, Mike Vallis, divisional director at Thorpe Park, said: "As the nation's thrill capital, we are always looking to create the next level of adrenaline-inducing theme park rides for our guests.
"The Swarm pushes the boundaries with not only the rollercoaster experience itself but also with the extreme near-misses and apocalyptic-style landscape that guests will encounter."
Thorpe Park is located in Chertsey, just 25 miles from central London hotels.
