Date Posted: 17/10/13
Opera fanatics are sure to be getting excited ahead of this year's Glyndebourne tour, which gets underway in just a few weeks.
A cast including 23 soloists, 37 choristers, 119 musicians and 20 children will be taking part in this year's tour, which is set to start at Woking's New Victoria Theatre on Tuesday October 29th.
Shows will also be taking place in Norwich, Canterbury, Milton Keynes, Plymouth and Stoke-on-Trent in the next few weeks.
Booking short breaks could be a great way for opera lovers to witness the Glyndebourne tour for themselves, though tickets are sure to be popular so those who want to go to an event will have to move quickly to secure their passes.
David Pickard, general director at Glyndebourne, explained that there are two purposes for the tour. He said these are "bringing world-class performances to new audiences and bringing new talent to the fore".
A new production of Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia is being performed at this year's tour. It has been directed by actress and director Fiona Shaw, who played Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter films.
