Chelsea bid for Fernando Torres ahead of Stamford Bridge clash
Date Posted: 28/01/11
Fernando Torres could be wearing the blue of Chelsea when Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge next month.
The two sides are set to go head-to-head in front of those booking London hotels on Sunday February 6th and it has transpired that Chelsea have put a bid in for the Reds' striker.
A spokesman for the Anfield club told BBC Sport that the Spanish international is "not for sale" and therefore the bid, which is believed to be in the region of £35 million, has been turned down.
The transfer window is due to slam shut at 23:00GMT on Monday January 31st, which gives Chelsea another couple of days to try and lure their man.
So far, both clubs have been quiet during the transfer period, with Liverpool letting Ryan Babel leave the club.
They have attempted to bring in Luis Suarez from Ajax, however, discussions have stalled at the bidding stage.
Chelsea meanwhile have been attempting to snap up Benfica centre-back David Luiz, although the Portuguese side are believed to be wanting more money for the player.
