Celebrate the Conquest of Everest with a UK Climbing Holiday
Date Posted: 30/05/13
There's plenty of buzz in the news at the moment surrounding the 60th anniversary of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay's historic ascent to the summit of Mount Everest, all of which has been causing global interest in mountain climbing to peak.
Britain just happens to be blessed with plenty of great spots for climbers of all ability levels to practise their skills, which is why anyone who fancies emulating the famous mountaineers who conquered the Himalayas should think about heading off on short breaks to some of the country's rocky areas this summer.
Among the top places to go is the Peak District, which boasts more than 10,000 recorded climbs and offers both limestone and gritstone cliffs and peaks, therefore providing a huge range of challenges.
Snowdonia in Wales is another excellent place to test out your climbing skills, while Scotland's Ben Nevis is the largest mountain in the UK and can be found close to Lochaber, which is known for offering plenty of fantastic outdoor activities.
