Britons to spend £480 million on royal wedding celebrations

Over a third (34 per cent) of Brits are set to join in patriotic celebrations for the royal wedding next week, according to research from moneysupermarket.com.
It found that people are spending around £29 per head on bunting and other party equipment, while others are also booking London hotels for the event, which takes place on Friday April 29th.
A survey of 2,000 people revealed that the British economy will benefit to the tune of £480 million, with shops and supermarkets taking advantage of the Bank Holiday.
"With customers under pressure and retail sales falling dramatically, the wedding and the extra day off will give a useful boost to the national mood and to retail sales," Richard Lim, from the British Retail Consortium, told the Daily Telegraph.
The royal wedding is all set to embrace the digital era, it has been revealed, with a live stream planned for YouTube and palace officials keeping followers up to date on proceedings through Twitter.
