Britain's Top Picnic Spots Revealed
Date Posted: 30/05/13
One of the great things about discovering the UK on weekend breaks is getting the chance to have a traditional British picnic in some of the country's most historic and picturesque spots.
Anyone wondering exactly where to do so may be interested to hear that the top ten places to grab a bite to eat in the open air have now been revealed, after 10,000 nominations were whittled down to a final ten by experts from VisitEngland, VisitWales and Kingsmill.
Taking first place was Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland, which not only provides dramatic views over the windswept beaches that border the North Sea, but is also one of the nation's most iconic historical relics, having been host to several battles between the English and Scottish armies through the centuries.
Other areas in the top ten include Belfast City Hall, Box Hill in Surrey, Cow and Calf Rocks in West Yorkshire and Rhosneigr Beach in north-west Wales.
