Black Watch set for SECC return next year
Date Posted: 21/12/12
The production of Black Watch is set to return to the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow next year.
It will be produced by the National Theatre of Scotland with the run lasting from Wednesday, March 28th until Saturday, April 13th and organisers hope that it will be able to build on the success of previous runs.
In the past, with the help of those on theatre breaks, the production saw sold-out runs at the Old Fruitmarket in 2007 and at the SECC in 2008 and 2010 with the production having played to over 212,000 people to date in various countries.
Ann Loughrey, head of corporate social responsibility at ScottishPower, said the military production "has been well received in venues across the world", before adding that "its return to Glasgow will be a great success".
Black Watch is largely based on interviews with a number of former soldiers who served in Iraq and, as such, offers a real insight into life in the army.
