Belfast growing in popularity for dynamic city breaks
Date Posted: 06/09/12

More and more people are recognising Belfast as a fantastic city that is perfect for short city breaks, according to a leading expert.
Gerry Lennon, chief executive of Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau, explained that when the organisation was established in 1999 there were only 1.5 million visitors to the city every year, this figure has now grown to eight million.
There is an array of things to do in the dynamic and welcoming city, including exploring its rich political history, taking in the Titanic maritime heritage or just enjoying the fantastic food and vibrant music.
Coming up in the next few months in Belfast is the 50th anniversary of the Belfast Festival between Friday, October 19th and Saturday, November 3rd, which will bring a variety of music, theatre, dance and comedy to the city.
Belfast Fashion Week is also coming to the city from Saturday, October 13th to Sunday, October 21st.
All sorts of tourists are catered for too, as Belfast has expanded its accommodation portfolio significantly in the last ten years, meaning there is everything from luxury and boutique hotels to hostels and budget B&Bs.
