Barcelona makes for the perfect European city break, expert says

Individuals considering city breaks in the coming months should head to the northern Spanish city of Barcelona, as it makes for perhaps a perfect getaway, according to a leading expert.
Simon Calder, travel guru, explained that the Catalan city has "cutting edge culture", represented by the Picasso Museum and the architecture of Antoni Gaudi at the Sagrada Familia and other buildings.
However, it also has a beautiful beach for travellers to relax, which is something very few big European cities have to offer, a wonderful football heritage, for the sports fans, and great opportunities for shopping, particularly in the famous market La Boqureria.
What's more, the food and drink in Barcelona is spectacular. Mr Calder said that many people go by the rule that if it can't be found in Barcelona, then they are better off without it. Make sure to try arros negre, which is squid cooked in its black ink, and some delightful seafood paella.
