'Banksy: The Room In The Elephant' showing in Bristol
Date Posted: 31/03/14
Banksy: The Room In The Elephant is a play related to the world famous graffiti artist Banksy and is showing at the Tobacco Factory Theatre in Bristol from May 8th to 10th.
After a successful national tour and appearance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year, the well-received play by Tom Wainwright appears again in Bristol.
This original and thought-provoking play stars Gary Beadle (Eastenders, Sucker Punch, Blue Remembered Hills) and looks at the phenomenon surrounding Banksy’s art, in that many things he sprays become items of incredible value to many people.
It becomes a more important issue when Banksy makes his mark on a water tank which also happens to be someone’s LA home. The words ‘This Looks a Bit Like An Elephant’ resulted in the resident Tachowa Covington, being left homeless as art collectors took it from him.
This production is directed by Emma Callander. After the play there is a screening of short documentary called Something from Nothing about Tachowa by filmmaker Hal Samples.
Find a nearby Bristol hotel in the hometown of Banksy to stay after the show.
