A Midsummer Night's Dream Opera to Open in Leeds
Date Posted: 05/09/13
As part of the Festival of Britten, Leeds venue The Grand Theatre & Opera House will be hosting a staging of the composer's famous creation A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Benjamin Britten, who lived between 1913 and 1976, based the opera on Shakespeare's comic play of the same name, a text which is hundreds of years old.
The Grand run begins on September 28th this year, and continues for almost a month, until October 24th.
The opera's story focuses on four young people whose trip into a forest brings them into contact with fairies.
The supernatural characters include fairy king and queen Oberon and Tytania, as well as Puck, their servant.
There is a special offer in place as part of the Festival of Britten, whereby opera fans can book to see three of the operas being performed and get a free trip to one.
This could be a great deal to take advantage of if you were thinking about having theatre breaks in West Yorkshire.
